Join us for the next chapter of Distilled: An Artist Series at Distillery 98, presented in collaboration with Emerald Coast Storytellers, featuring April’s artist, Renee Broxson.
Distilled comes from the idea of extracting the essence of something — just as spirits are distilled, artists distill their experiences, influences, and perspectives into creative work. This opening gallery night marks the beginning of Renee’s month-long installation, with her work on display throughout the distillery all April long.
Come sip, mingle, and explore as Renee transforms the space with her whimsical, character-driven paintings — each piece a celebration of individuality, personal style, and the subtle details that tell a story.
Throughout the evening, guests can enjoy drinks from the bar, grab a bite from the food truck, and hear Renee share a glimpse into her creative process and the inspiration behind her work — offering a deeper look into the stories woven into each piece.
Free to attend • All are welcome • RSVP encouraged
The gallery night will be followed later in the month by a ticketed, hands-on workshop led by the artist.
Presented by Distillery 98 in collaboration with Emerald Coast Storytellers and in partnership with the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County.
About Renee Broxson
Renee Broxson began painting part-time in 2014, guided by a belief that growth comes through curiosity, persistence, and hard work. A lifelong learner, she took up tennis later in life and, through dedication and determination, earned an athletic scholarship to the University of West Florida at age 32 — an experience that continues to shape her disciplined approach to both life and art. Her artistic practice is rooted in continual skill-building and the pursuit of improvement.
Broxson creates whimsical, abstracted figures and animals inspired by individuality and personal expression. She is drawn to the visual language of style — bold clothing, distinctive shoes, expressive accessories, and meaningful tattoos — the details people choose to show the world that quietly tell their stories. Through playful imagery and simplified forms, her work celebrates character, humor, and the beauty of uniqueness. A portion of her sales supports local charities benefiting people and animals, reflecting her commitment to connection, community, and giving back through art.
Renee is the Featured Artist for the 38th Annual ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival, presented by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County.
